What do you need to know about botulinum toxin treatment?

Botox is a purified toxin produced by Clostridium botulinum. Botox treatment is the most notable, simple and very effective non-surgical aesthetic procedure that can temporarily wipe out expression wrinkles. The results are spectacular and are achieved in a very short time. Botulinum toxin is used in a simple and painless injection and the effect is greatly appreciated by patients because wrinkles are relieved within a few days after the injection.

How does botox work?

The expression facial lines are formed by the hyperactivity of the mimic muscles that, through their contraction, lead to skin wrinkles. During treatment, very small doses of the substance are injected directly intramuscularly, blocking the transmission of the nervous impulse to the injected muscle. Its activity is diminished and the skin does not form the wrinkles anymore.

How long does the treatment last and how long do the results maintain?

The treatment takes about 10-15 minutes and does not require the recovery period. The effect becomes visible after a few days, is maximum 2 weeks after the injection and lasts for about 3-6 months, sometimes more. The results vary from case to case. If the treatment is not continued, the wrinkles return to their original appearance.

There are injection points that may be more sensitive, but for a very short period (seconds). For people with a high sensitivity in terms of pain, ice can be applied for anesthetic purposes.
• In the area where the treatment was performed, no further wrinkles appear, and with the disappearance of the effect, the skin returns to the stage at which the treatment was applied. ·        After applying the treatment, there is no sign, and after the effect is installed (about a week), the face of the person in question will have a rested, relaxed appearance.

Myths about botox! Be informed!

• MYTH: Botox  leads to a frozen face!
  TRUTH: There have been a few years of this myth, which states that botox injections could lead to an inexpressive and unnatural face. Muscle activity at the level of the muscles of the face is only reduced, so you can continue to frown or have a faint expression without the appearance of wrinkles.
• MYTH: Botox can be a permanent treatment!
  TRUTH: The effects of botox injections generally remain within the 3-6 month range, with reapplication being recommended but not mandatory.

IMPORTANT!

Do not use botox if:  

• You have an infection at the injection site / active herpetic infection.
• You have known hypersensitivity to one of the components of the product.
• You have neurological disorders such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), myasthenia gravis, Eaton-Lambert syndrome.
• You are pregnant or suspect that you may be.
